The end of the school year: archiving and keeping classes

Classes are archived at the year end, scores kept; archive, restore, keep or delete a class yourself.

Pupils' work should only be kept while there's a reason to, so Bravito tidies up at the end of each school year (31 August in the UK). Four weeks and one week before, you get an email and a panel on the Classes page showing what will happen to each class.

On the first day of the new school year:

  • Your current classes are archived. Every score and mark is kept, the class code stops working, open homework closes, and pupils' whiteboard drawings are deleted three months later.
  • Classes you made in the last six weeks are left alone, as they're probably for the new year.
  • A class that has already been archived for a whole school year is deleted for good three months later: the class list, scores and pupils' work. You get an email four weeks before and a final one a week before, and it is never deleted without that final notice.
  • Archived pupils (pupils you marked as having left) are deleted, with everything their devices sent.

To keep a class as it is, choose Keep on the Classes page (or on the class) and say why: you're teaching the class again, you've set it up for next year, coursework or NEA moderation, your school's retention policy, a safeguarding matter, complaint or appeal, or another reason. Keep lasts for one year end, so you'll be asked again next year. Keeping an archived class also cancels its deletion.

You can also do it yourself at any time from the class's ⋯ menu: Archive class, Restore class (scores and whiteboards that haven't been deleted come back; closed homework stays closed until you reopen it), or Delete class for good. On the Free plan an archived class doesn't count towards your 3 classes.
